Return of the Dream Canteen is the thirteenth studio album by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It was announced on July 23, 2022, during a concert at the Mile High Empower Stadium in Denver, CO, after appearing randomly on the band’s website.

It is a double album with 17 songs, the same amount as their previous album only months before, Unlimited Love. Both albums were recorded during the same sessions, and the band’s favorite tracks were split amongst the two.

Return of the Dream Canteen was hinted at even before Unlimited Love’s release, with both vocalist Anthony Kiedis and guitarist John Frusciante suggesting that new music was on its way. Kiedis stated “We’re gonna put out music by the handful – literally…. Don’t be surprised if another wheelbarrow of songs comes your way in the near future”, while Frusciante happily stated “I definitely feel like we saved a lot of some of the best stuff for the potential next album.”

The first single, “Tippa My Tongue”, was released on August 19th, alongside a video. Although no official video accompanied it, “Eddie” followed on September 23rd, a tribute to Eddie Van Halen.
